part four in alden tyrell s latest project: vorm variaties , a 5 release series consisting of tracks recorded in the last 2 years. the vorm variaties tracks were a style excercise for tyrell, flexing his producermuscle while health issues forced him to stop touring. initially he had no intention to release these tracks but we consider them to good not to put out, infact we were almost forced to start these series because of them! all tracks selected are variations on classic techno forms, using classic style ingredients and the 909. all 5 variaties are different in style, yet all homogenous, all with alden tyrell s sound signature... on point production skills and stripped down arrangements.

giammarco orsini is back on elephant moon with wider perspective, a four track ep of dance floor bombs displaying his diversity as a producer. opening with back to the future, a straight up house club killer with a slightly retro feel. up next up is inner path, a track with a throwback of jungle and breaks era on the b side electric love showcases giammarco s signature sound and the last track moonlight allows him to present a deeper cut overflowing with warmth and emotion.

killekill house trax is going strong – this time with a 4-tracker by the incredible andreas gehm. he sent us the music shortly before his death and said we could pick any of his artist names and his only condition was that the music was released on vinyl. only after his death we realized that he had obviously already taken a decision then… so we are releasing this record now as an homage to one of the most creative and funniest persons in the electronic universe of the last decade. the ep includes all his typical styles and ranges from hard jacking acid house over weirdo electro house to old school chicago- leaning piano house. a timeless record for all situations. may you rest in peace, andreas, and thanks for still rocking our floors, even when you are long gone!

for house heads of a certain persuasion, dj duke is a name that resonates for all the right reasons. the u.s. veteran has been responsible for some of the 90’s most seminal moments, chiefly through tracks such as 12 minutes to do it (under his pleasure dome alias), party time and the prosumer-endorsed deep house classic, heard. he returns here courtesy of emerging imprint solo werks, who host his latest ep, green pastures. a momentous house-led workout, it compounds duke’s reputation as a producer of considerable panache while also acting as an auspicious start to life for the dublin based label. the title track is a grainy, old-school cut that bears all the hallmarks of a dusty analogue-jam and harks back to the days of vintage chicago with the sort of zest you’d expect from a man of duke’s credentials. the other original, skyscapes, is packed to the brim with industrial motifs and is characterised by the sort of effortlessly catchy baseline with which duke has made his name. mysterious and ethereal, it takes the listener on an uncompromising and throughly captivating house journey from the off. on the flip side, we have two stunning remixes, the first of which arrives from new jersey don, ruben candelario aka nicuri. a long-time favourite of nyc-based producers a la joey anderson, nicuri turns green pastures into a dreamy, acid-led space, adding layers of suspense and a glittering vocal intto the mix as he goes. last but not least are dublin-based producers slowburn, who serve up a stunning version of skyscapes. a carefully construed voyage into the deep, it caps off a fine ep with some aplomb.

the third outing for modern manners emerges on the back of two very strong 12inches that introduced this anonymous outfit to the world. timeless vibe continues where the last release left off, building up a wonderfully cosmic bed of processed melody under which casual hand played percussion and warm bass notes can linger. azzahar too keeps things pleasantly soporific with its gentle pace and lilting guitar refrains, and then middle east manners rounds this excellent trio of eps out with a beautifully realised swirl of sounds that find focus once a kick drum starts pulsing and the percussion starts building. quite who modern manners are is a mystery at this stage, but across these three 12inches they ve certainly made their presence felt in the softest, most laid back of ways.

played by ricardo villalobos - its time for the next release on long-running paris label bass culture and owner d julz has invited a crack team of talented individuals to deliver the magic to this latest instalment in the label s release schedule. this extra special remix package features contributions from the legendary dj skull, along with sebo k, henrik bergqvist and romanian mp. the bossman s own 2015 ep houdini is the subject of this exquisite bunch of reworks, giving the whole release a fresh lick of paint from a group of artists handpicked by d julz to get to work on his productions. the title track houdini is first in line, with the mighty dj skull on remix duty. the chi-town legend has been a favourite of d julz since the early nineties when he was releasing on labels such as djax-up-beats. the funk-imbued workout he creates from the original production is superb and a testament to someone who has been involved in music for three decades and still going strong. keeping dj skulls remix company on the a-side is sebo k with his take on serendipity. following on from his outstanding ep brock wild, sebo returns to bass culture with another taught dance floor cut, full of swing and groove, pushed along with a strong, insistent energy. on the flipside the deep sultry flavours continue to bubble up. two more dynamic artists bring their unique touch to bass culture and the first is the romanian wonderkid mp (mihai popescu), who has previously released on the sub-label bass culture limited. his reinterpretation of serendipity is deep, nuanced and quirky with a simmering atmosphere throughout.last but certainly not least is the swedish maestro henrik bergqvist. waiting 4 visa gets a kick in its step, with mysterious cosmic fx layered over a mesmerising bassline and a collection of bleeps and chirps that really bring the remix to life. and there it is, four superb new mixes of three great tracks... enjoy!

after last years releases on sushitech records and multiple yoyaku affiliated labels, irenic labelboss roger gerressen delivers a deep ep with 3 excellent dub techno cuts.

joran van pol is back on minus with edge, a fantastic four track ep that is his first on the label since 2013. in the years since, the amsterdam based artist has set up his own fade label and has continued to evolve his cinematic techno sound. previously, van pol has also released on labels like rejected, sci+tec and ideal audio, and has the support of all the big techno players who often reach for his tunes in their sets. as a dj he is just as in demand, with headline slots everywhere from space ibiza to time warp all behind him. having recently set up a new studio, he is still coming on strong with fresh inspiration and ever more essential grooves. ‘illos opens things with seven spooky minutes of icy techno. rolling rubbery drums pump away below, and the details up top make for an evocative soundscape with distant industrial sounds, groaning bass and razor sharp hi hats all filling your mind with imagery. next comes title track ‘edge, another brilliant sonic landscape with tense chords repeating over ticking percussion. its a track that builds tension throughout, and keeps you looking over your shoulder into the eerie blackness. the perfectly high pressure ‘return is one that locks you in and never lets up, with warped synths snaking above traintrack like drums and hits. a dark, rumbling bassline and the sounds of pistons releasing air all add to the intensity of this brainmelting bit of futuristic techno. last but not least, ‘frostbite is then the most spacious and spooky offering of the lot. it has freaky alien sound designs scattered around the track with supple kicks driving the whole thing forwards. its an absorbing cut that hurries along and takes you for a thrilling ride. these are four more inventive techno tracks from one of the contemporary scenes brightest stars.

kalakuta soul records joins forces with waf80music to proudly present kai niggemanns solo debut, an all original album of outrageous poetically abstract music created live and without overdubs on a buchla 200e electric music box, one of the rarest and most sought after electronic music instruments. working on the platform since 2013, kai niggemann has become one of germanys leading artists who perform live with a buchla 200e. his style is an electro-acoustic storytelling, a clubby dreamscape and a poetically-abstract kraut-infused energetic mix of new elektronische musik with contemporary club culture. nerds love the technology and clubbers love the throbbing drive of the basslines. its all improvised and recorded live in berlin — yet it sounds meticulously crafted in a dark basement studio throughout the entire last winters.

we are extremely happy to welcome malouane to our roster for this third release. the atmosphere of malouane is unique: raw, melodic and full of details with charm. -long way for the homies- will recall artists like mcde or rick wade, quite in the same vein: jazzy, soul and house. the second, -keep yo mama clean- very catchy too: drums, beautiful basses and small samples interact with each other. these elements work perfectly, because malouane has a real sense of musical arrangement, a real mastery of sampling. -this is supposed to be an outro- is the last track of the original tracks: it is a little slower than the others but a great wealth: a real charm and a true personality emerges from this piece. the multitude of details and, again, the mastery of the sample make it a piece as much club as listening. cody currie has proposed his own vision. the young english producer made a great remix by putting his style and clement’s together. finally, times are ruff also offers their reinterpretation of keep yo mama clean: softer and quite faithful to the atmosphere of this ep, with a small taste of chaos in the cbd, the dutch have done a remarkable job.

planet rhythm has come forward with quite some serious va’s throughout the last couple of years. the 109th installment in the ever maintaining vinyl series is exactly that. a compilation that features several of the label’s great names combined on one slab of vinyl. kingfisher ep is a four track counting release consisting of tough tracks that are completely in the vein of the label’s recent direction. intrusive, yet melodic contemporary dancefloor action.

optimo music don’t generally do limited edition releases but when the golden filter did these extra mixes of “end of times”, the a1 track off their recent ep we thought they were too good to remain in the digital domain so have pressed up a small run of 12” singles aimed specifically at djs. the original single version is a future synth classic. these new dub versions take it to the dancefloor and have been tried and tested around the world over the last few months. they are considerably extended, dubbed out and add extra dynamics & ecstatic synth power with hints of the original vocal. there is a slo mo version at 103 bpm and a faster version at 118bpm which means the track should work any time from warm up to peak set. there is also a drone-apella version included too.

winter, or a time which represents that season, in a metropole that appears to be moscow. the visitor is taking metro no. 6 at leninsky prospect as he is on his way to the ballroom close to gorky park. the air is icy, the sky is grey. a cat, previously hidden among the dirty snow, is crossing his way. the closer he gets to his destination, the clearer he can hear music, music that reminds him of future days. the dimly lit room is only sparsely filled. on stage a graceful singer, capturing the room with her presence. captive voices merge with chords played on yet unknown instruments machine rhythms cycle in 3/4 time. the vigorous peasant dancers, following an instinctive knowledge of the weight of fall, utilize their surplus energy to press all their strength into the proper beat of the measure, thus intensifying their personal enjoyment in dancing. here, in the transhuman ballroom, time stands still and values are being dissolved by numeric progressions. spiritually allied, the visitor, the singer and the peasant dancers short-circuit the present moment while the last falling snow slowly turns into rain. with walzerzyklus, atomtm returns to raster to complete his series that has once begun with liedgut and continued with winterreise. the 7 tracks, created in collaboration with russian singer lisokot, are subdivided into 3 pieces of 2 minutes each and 4 pieces of 3 minutes each, intentionally reflecting the 3/4 time of a classic waltz. throughout the release, lisokot’s delicate vocals are put into different relations to atomtms rather cool machine music, either complementing or contrasting each other. in the same line, the 3 shorter leitmotifs provide the main theme that is taken up repeatedly in the course of the release.

shir khan welcomes zoo brazil to his infamous black jukebox disco house series. lately, the swedish producer released tracks on hot since 82 s knee deep in sound, nic fanciullis saved records and with more music to come on sasha s last night on earth and joris voorn s green label. for black jukebox john went all disco - think something like soundstream on ecstasy - hyperactive loops & grooves. pure locked in dancefloor moments !

superstar & star are back on porridge bullet with there first vinyl ep proper! mastermind ep! a collection of seven classic songs from superstars vaults available for the first time on an estonian vinyl record! neville lawrence immigrated from his home country of trinidad to new york in the mid 80’s where, a few years later, following his fleeting east coast success, he re-settled with wife anne (star) in omaha, nebraska where they continued to perform, produce and record music until the present day. after releasing a cassette, 7inch and 12inch single with us in the last year we are happy to present yet another wonderful release from superstar and star! big big hugs!

cape town duo christian tiger school provide the 3rd part of the lissoms series. both graduates of the red bull music academy and part of the sónar line-up this summer - they’ve previously posted an lp for the mighty tommy boy & remixes for subpop, and had their work remixed by luminaries like mndsgn.
“if you want to” embodies their sound and the fervent cape town beats scene aptly - esoteric uk influences sit amongst ambient soundscapes and a cracked breakbeat, pinned on a looped bassline - growing in intensity but using the most subtle of touches.
gacha bakradze’s version posits the track somewhere between slow-burning disco and krautrock, framing the character of the original with loose jams on his array of studio gear.
finally, edmondson’s version is a minimal, 2-steppy take honed by the berlin sounds which have pricked his ears for the last couple of years.

dark entries will reissue the first four full-lengths from seminal french coldwave group, trisomie 21. originally released by stechak/pias between 1983-1987, these releases will see their first vinyl appearance in over 30 years in a deluxe edition limited boxed set. remastered by george horn at fantasy studios.

trisomie 21 is a post punk band formed in 1981 by phillipe lomprez (vocals, drums) and herv? lomprez (guitar, electronics), two brothers from abscon, in the north of france. they began composing songs at the age of 16 while studying at school. the brothers were influenced by kraftwerk, the residents, yello, p.i.l as well as the films of george a. romero. their music consists of lush soundscapes that do not easily fit into any one category. lyrics are sung in english because in the north of france the duo sought to contradict the trend at the time for everything to be sung in french. musically their mood is melancholic and one can hear traces of joy division, durutti column and the cure.

the superb forbidden planet is a shiny early electro cut with a great funk bass line, a real instrumental groove and fantastic melodies that shimmer like a hot sun. it s filled with joy and sounds as fresh today as ever, the way it ducks and dives and offers real warmth. the francisco remix keeps the funk vibe but changes the groove to be a more chicago house style cut. as such it has a rasping bassline, big drums and coarse percussion that make you want to jack. the masterful ali renault—a go-to disco and synth specialist who runs cyber dance records, human shield record company and most recently his own vivod imprint—then turns out a hypnotic version that is more driven and direct for the dance floor, with robotic bass and epic reflective synth lines. it s a cinematic track with great analogue textures that goes back to the future. the last original is the excellent stay with me , a cosmic love song with breezy trumpets and dreamy disco vibes as well as soulful vocals. italo melodies and infectious percussion finish it off and make it an instant crowd pleaser.
